CHICAGO (March 8, 2023) - Chicago Fire FC II today announced that the Club has signed 2023 MLS SuperDraft selection, defender Noah Egan, to an MLS NEXT Pro contract. His contract runs through the 2023 season. Financial details were not disclosed.

“We welcome Noah to Chicago Fire II,” said Chicago Fire FC II General Manager Alex Boler. “We were excited to select him in the MLS SuperDraft and watched his progress with the first team during preseason, seeing first-hand his qualities and his mindset. He is someone who is going to strengthen and lead our backline.”

Egan, 22, joins Chicago Fire FC II after being selected 64th overall in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft by Chicago Fire FC. He spent the entire 2023 preseason training with the first team, joining the Club’s training camp in Cancun, Mexico, and in Tucson, Arizona.

Prior to the draft, Egan spent the last four seasons playing for the University of Vermont. During his collegiate career, he was selected to the America East All-Conference First Team on three occasions (2020-21, 2021, 2022). In his last two seasons at Vermont, he was on the Hermann Trophy Watch List, a trophy awarded to the top collegiate soccer player in the United States.

“As a team, we want to improve our buildout from the back and Noah is a player with a strong presence on the backline who can move the ball forward,” said Chicago Fire FC II Head Coach Ludovic Taillandier. “He has shown great potential and growth after spending time with the first team.”

A versatile defender from Irvine, Calif., with experience playing in the midfield, Egan is also coming off his most productive season, where he tallied a career-high four goals during the 2022 campaign. His efforts lifted the Catamounts to a top-5 ranking in the United States 2022 Coaches Poll for the first time in school history.

Before joining the University of Vermont, Egan was a member of Strikers FC, formerly known as the Irvine Strikers of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Known as one of the strongest academies in Southern California, Egan joins a long list of alumni that have made it to the professional level including former Fire defender Jonathan Bornstein.
