After their respective call-ups were announced last week, Chicago Fire goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina and Chicago Fire Academy midfielder Alan Rodriguez both featured for the U.S. Under-15 team in the side's 2019 Torneo Delle Nazioni opener on Sunday.
Pitted against their counterparts from India, Slonina started the match in net for the U.S. while Rodriguez entered as a 56th minute substitution in what became a 3-0 victory. Austin Brummett, Evan Rotundo, and Osvaldo Cisneros were the goal scorers for the U.S.
Slonina, who recently signed with the Fire as the youngest Homegrown Player in MLS history, has appeared in all six events in the 2018-19 U-15 USBNT cycle. Rodriguez, an Elkhart, Ind., native, made his international debut with the U-15 Boys National Team in May 2018 in matches against Bosnia, Herzegovina and Serbia.
The U.S. Under-15s will next take on Slovenia on Monday, April 29, and Mexico on Tuesday, April 30 in the tournament's Group C.
