CHICAGO (Aug. 31, 2022) – Chicago Fire FC today announced that Nate Boyden will serve as the Interim Technical Director for the Chicago Fire Football Academy, effective immediately.
In the interim, Boyden will be supported by Jamie Lyons, who is currently the Senior Director of Youth Soccer Development for Chicago Fire Youth Soccer.
A native of Woodland, Calif., Boyden enters the role having most-recently served as the Youth Technical Director of Chicago Fire Youth Soccer, the youth affiliate of Chicago Fire FC, since October 2021. It is Boyden’s second stint with the Chicago Fire, having coached various Chicago Fire Youth Soccer age groups from 2013-2018, when he returned to California.
Prior to his role with Chicago Fire Youth Soccer, Boyden served as the associate head coach of Loyola University Chicago’s Men’s Soccer Team. From 2018 until his return to Chicago, Boyden was Technical Director of the Davis Legacy Soccer Club where he oversaw over 50 teams during his tenure.
Boyden enters the interim following the Club’s Aug. 25 announcement that former Academy Technical Director Cedric Cattenoy will transition to a first team scouting role on Sept. 1, helping to support the global scouting organization for the Fire and FC Lugano. The Chicago Fire Academy is scheduled to begin their regular season on September 10.
