Chicago Fire defender Jalil Anibaba’s “Improbable, Impossible” long-range bomb on March 30 vs. Colorado, which started the team’s run to an MLS-record sixth U.S. Open Cup title (and Brendan Hannan’s webcasting career) was voted 2011 Chicago Fire Goal of the Year by the club’s supporters. Playing in just his third professional match, the Fire rookie’s effort edged out Dominic Oduro’s semifinal Open Cup winner from August 30 in Friday’s final, bringing to end the club’s second annual Goal of the Year tournament.
Congratulations to Jalil and all 16 of our tournament entries and thanks to all FIre supporters for your participation!
