The U.S. Under-16 Men's National Team found a dramatic late result on Thursday, taking a point from a 3-3 draw against the Netherlands Under-17s in the opening match of 2019 Nike International Friendlies.
After taking an 11th minute 1-0 lead, the U.S. surrendered three goals to their Dutch counterparts prior to the stoppage time fireworks. Kevin Paredes pulled a second goal back for the U.S. in the 93rd minute, moments before the Fire Academy's Brian Gutierrez sprung Sota Kitahara for a point blank equalizer.
Also representing the Fire in the match were goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina -- who got the start in net -- as well as midfielders Gutierrez and Javier Casas, and forward Alex Monis.
The U-16s will next take on the U.S. U-17s on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 5:30 p.m. CT.
