The Chicago Fire U-18 and U-16 Academy teams played fellow Fire side Indiana Fire Academy to a respective 1-1 draw and 5-0 victory Sunday.
The Fire U-18s kicked off first Sunday, Oct. 21. The match remained scoreless until the Fire's Jeffrey Farina scored his ninth goal of the season in the 75th minute. The Fire looked to escape with the victory but a late, 90th minute goal by Indiana Fire's Joey Bastian leveled the match as the game ended 1-1.
In the second match of the day, Luca Giovine put the Fire U-16s up 1-0 just two minutes in. Daniel Hayes doubled the Fire's lead in the 16th minute as the U-16s entered halftime with a 2-0 lead. In the second half, the Fire would find goals from Oscar Gonzalez in 67th minute, Martin Alba in the 75th minute and Shannon Seymour in the 78th minute to give the Fire the 5-0 victory.
The U-18s (3-2-2) sit in sixth place in the Mid-America Division of the Central Conference. The Fire have scored the most goals in the division with 16 goals thus far. The U-16s (3-1-3) remained in fourth place in the Mid-America Division of the Central Conference.
The Chicago Fire Developmental Academy teams return to action when the U-18 and U-16 teams take on FC Milwaukee on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the FC Milwaukee Complex in Germantown, Wisc. The U-18s will kick off first at 11:00 a.m. CT followed by the U-16s at 1:30 p.m. CT.
