CHICAGO (March 14, 2024) – Chicago Fire FC today announced that the Club has loaned Homegrown forward Missael Rodríguez to USL League One side Union Omaha for the remainder of the season. Chicago retains the right to recall Rodríguez at any point, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines. Per Club policy, additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Rodríguez, 21, signed with the First Team as an 18-year-old on Oct. 12, 2021. He made his MLS debut in the 2023 season, appearing as a substitute in the team’s 3-0 win over CF Montréal on July 12, 2023. At the MLS NEXT Pro level, Rodríguez has made 40 appearances for Chicago Fire FC II, tallying nine goals and one assist.
Prior to signing a professional contract, Rodríguez joined the Fire Academy at the end of the 2017-18 season, scoring 10 goals and registering three assists in 19 games at the U-15 level. In 2021, Rodríguez scored the game-winning goal in the 80th minute to help lead the Fire’s U-19 team to a 1-0 victory over Solar SC, capturing the inaugural 2021 MLS NEXT U-19 Championship. Additionally, Rodríguez earned the Golden Boot for the U-19 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs with a tournament-high eight goals in five matches.
