CHICAGO (June 24, 2022) – Chicago Fire FC today announced that defender Wyatt Omsberg has undergone successful reconstructive surgery to repair torn ligaments in his left foot.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Simon Lee M.D. at the Rush Oak Brook Surgery Center in Oak Brook, Illinois, on Friday. Omsberg’s return to play timeline will be determined at a later date.
Omsberg, 26, suffered the injury during the team’s 1-0 home win over D.C. United on June 18. Originally joining the Fire via a trade with Minnesota United FC on Feb. 11, 2020, Omsberg has made 44 appearances (29 starts) for the Club, including 14 consecutive starts to begin the 2022 MLS campaign.
The Fire will return to League play on Saturday, facing the Houston Dynamo at PNC Stadium. Beginning at 7:00 p.m. CT, the match will be broadcast nationally on UniMás, TUDN and Twitter (with English-language audio). It will also be transmitted locally in Spanish on Univision Radio.
