CHICAGO (Aug. 5, 2022) – Chicago Fire FC today announced that the Club has acquired $325,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money from CF Montréal in exchange for forward Chinonso Offor. The Fire will receive an additional $275,000 in GAM if Offor achieves certain performance-based metrics with Montréal. Additionally, Chicago will receive a percentage of a future transfer fee if Offor is transferred to another club outside of MLS.
“This move was made to create more roster flexibility and to provide Chino with an opportunity to compete for playing time in a new environment,” said Chicago Fire FC Sporting Director Georg Heitz. “I’d like to thank Chino for his contributions and wish him the best of luck for the future.”
Offor was acquired by Chicago in November 2020 via transfer from Latvian first division Club FK Rīgas Futbola Skola. Through his first two seasons with the Fire, the 22-year-old Nigeria striker has started in 14 of his 41 MLS appearances, notching two goals and two assists for the Club.
The Fire will travel this weekend to take on Charlotte FC on Saturday, August 6 at 6:00 p.m. CT at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. The match will be televised on WGN-TV and CF97 Live, and transmitted locally in Spanish on TUDN 1200 AM.
