CHICAGO (Feb. 14, 2022) – Chicago Fire FC today announced that the Club has acquired a natural third-round pick in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft from Seattle Sounders FC. In exchange, the Sounders will receive the College Protected Period Priority for defender Jackson Ragen.
A native of Seattle, Wash., Ragen, 23, was originally selected by the Fire as the No. 33 overall pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft. In 2021, he made 16 appearances (16 starts) for the Sounders’ USL affiliate, Tacoma Defiance.
The Fire will kick off its 25th season in MLS on Saturday, Feb. 26, at Inter Miami CF (5:00 p.m. CT), before playing its 2022 home opener on Saturday, March 5 against Orlando City SC at Soldier Field. Scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. CT, the match against Orlando City will mark the earliest home opener in Club history. Tickets for the match are currently available for purchase here.
