CHICAGO(May 24, 2021) – The Chicago Fire FC Academy traveled to Michigan to face Michigan Wolves and Vardar Soccer Academy on Saturday, May 22 and Sunday, May 23.
On Saturday, the U-13 Fire Academy kicked off the weekend with an 8-2 win against Michigan Wolves with two goals each from Ethan Koranda (Vitaliy Hlyut, penalty), and Hlyut (Aaron Ineh, unassisted), and one goal each from Oscar Pineda (unassisted), Jack Wesley (unassisted), Parker Amoo-Mensah (unassisted) and Michael Sarna (Derrick Rafacz).
At the U-14 level, Leonardo Orejarena scored twice to set the tone for the 5-1 victory against Michigan Wolves with a goal assisted by Anthony Masino and a penalty kick goal. Daniel Zepeda (Divinci Huitron), Huitron (Orejarena) and Aleks Duncevic (unassisted) sealed the victory for the Fire.
Max Padua (Kamden Held) and Michael Ramirez (Aaron Deppe) scored for the Fire Academy U-15 squad, but it wasn’t enough to overcome in the 2-3 loss against Wolves.
The Fire Academy U-17 team came from behind to secure a 3-2 victory against Wolves with goals from Angel RodrĂguez (unassisted), Matija Mitrovic (unassisted) and Christian Baumgartner (Constantine Edlund).
The day’s matches were capped off with a 6-1 win by the Fire Academy U-19s, with two goals from Josh Torres (both assisted by Noeh Hernández), and one goal each from Michael Flores (unassisted), Erik Kocs-Washburn (Luka Bezerra), Bezerra (Missael RodrĂguez) and Hernández (RodrĂguez)
Sunday’s matches began with a Fire Academy U-13 win, 4-2, against Vardar with goals from Hlyut (Held), Wesley, Koranda (Pineda) and Amoo-Mensah (unassisted).
Goals from Marius Aiyenero (Nick Mitrega), Masino (Omar Ortiz), Ortiz (Huitron) and Mario Stoka sealed the Fire Academy U-14 victory against Vardar, 4-1.
The Fire Academy U-15 team went down a goal early but came back for the 5-1 victory with goals from RamĂrez (Gabriel Antunez Jr.), Aaron Ortiz (Held), two goals from Kevin Contreras (Deppe) and Jonathan Almaguer (Contreras).
Roman Eisa (Benjamin Chavarria) and Carlos Nevarez (unassisted) each scored a goal in the 2-2 draw between the Fire Academy U-17s and Vardar.
The trip to Michigan was completed with a 5-1 victory by the Fire Academy U-19 squad with two goals each from Flores (Jason Belloli, Kocs-Washburn), RodrĂguez (Flores, Sergio Oregel) and a goal from Richard Fleming (Diego Alvarado).
Chicago Fire Academy next hosts cross-town rival FC United in Bridgeview, Ill., on Saturday, May 29.
