CHICAGO(May 29, 2021) – The Chicago Fire FC Academy hosted FC United in Bridgeview, Ill., coming away with a 3-2-0 record during Memorial Day weekend.
The day started off with a tough 1-0 loss at the U-14 age level, but the overall Academy record on the day was quickly equalized as the Fire Academy U-13 team defeated their FC United counterpart, 8-0. Jack Wesley scored two unassisted goals and Andrej Ilich scored two goals assisted by Parker Amoo-Mensah, while Vitaliy Hlyut and Dylan Healy each scored once, and assisted on each other’s goals. Michael Sarna (Oscar Pineda) and Amoo-Mensah (penalty) also scored one goal apiece.
At the U-15 level, goals by Kamden Held and Aiden Frick put the final score at 2-0. The U-15 game was followed by a 9-0 victory by the Fire Academy U-17 team, led by five goals from Michael Nesci. Roman Eisa and Matija Mitrovic each assisted on two of Nesci’s goals, and Celestino Vasquez assisted on the final goal. Constantine Edlund (unassisted), Mitrovic (Antonio Costabile), Eisa (Edlund), and Costabile (Edlund) capped off the final score with one goal each.
Erik Kocs-Washburn (Richard Flemming III) scored the Fire Academy U-19’s lone goal in the final match of the day, a 1-4 loss.
