Chicago Fire defeat Austin FC 1-0 in 2022 preseason finale

In the team's final tune-up match of the 2022 preseason, Chicago Fire FC took down Austin FC 1-0 on Saturday at St. Davidā€™s Performance Center in Austin, Texas.

Saturday's match marked the Fire's third shut out in four preseason matches overall. The defense allowed one goal total in those four matches.

GastĆ³n GimĆ©nez provided the winner for Chicago, catching Austin FC's goalkeeper off his line with a strike from midfield.

The Fire now return to Chicago briefly prior to departing for their 2022 season opener on the road against Inter Miami FC. That match kicks off at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 26 live on WGN-TV and ChicagoFireFC.com/live.
