The Chicago Fire U-15, U-16 and U-18 Academy teams were in Minnesota over the weekend for matches against the Minnesota Thunder Academy and Shattuck-Saint Mary's.
The U-18s split their contests, falling 3-1 to Minnesota Thunder on Saturday, Oct. 22, before dealing a 2-0 loss to Shattuck-Saint Mary's on Sunday. Jake Fernandez provided the lone goal against Minnesota Thunder, while Djordje Mihailovic bagged a brace in Sunday's shutout victory.
The U-16s swept both matches over the weekend. First, Victor Bezerra and Adrian Lara powered the side to a 2-0 victory over Minnesota Thunder on Saturday, before Bezerra, Bryce Blevins and Carlos Cepeda all found the back of the net in their 3-0 win over Shattuck-Saint Mary's on Sunday.
The CFA U-15s put a bow on the Minnesota weekend with shutout wins over both opponents. They downed Minnesota Thunder by a score of 4-0, and rounded out the weekend with a 1-0 victory over Shattuck-Saint Mary's.
On Saturday, the U-12s defeated the Indiana Fire Juniors 2-0 with goals from Mitch Olenick and Fabian Ballesteros. The two sides played to a scoreless draw in the second match of the doubleheader.
A trip down Interstate 55 is next, as the U-14, U-16 and U-18 sides will head south to take on St. Louis Scott Gallagher Metro on Saturday, Oct. 29. in Collinsville, Ill.
