CHICAGO(June 8, 2016) — The Chicago Fire Academy U-16 and U-18 sides each learned their opponents for the group stage of the 2016 U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) Playoffs. Group play will take place June 22-26 at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas.
The Chicago Fire U-18s enter this year's playoffs as the defending USSDA national champions after claiming the 2015 trophy last July. The Fire finished the regular season on 47 points (14-6-5) to stand fourth in the Mid-America Division and were drawn into Group G with the Philadelphia Union, Beachside of Connecticut and Kendall Soccer Coalition (Fla.).
The U-16s amassed 51 points in the regular season (16-6-3) to finish third in their division, drawing into Group E along with the New York Red Bulls, Strikers FC (Calif.) and IMG Academy (Fla.).
Thirty-two teams from across the country were drawn into both the U-18 and U-16 USSDA playoff fields and will complete group play with three matches in five days in Frisco with a place in the knockout rounds at stake. For more information on the event, visit USSoccerDA.com.
