2019 Generation adidas Cup play began on Sunday morning in Frisco, Texas with a pair of matches for the Chicago Fire Academy Under-17 team.
The Fire began the day with a 2-1 victory over MLS counterparts the Houston Dynamo. Brian Gutierrez got the Men In Red on the board in the fourth minute on an assist from Missael Rodriguez, before Jason Belloli got the match-winner minutes later on a set piece delivered by Takumi Ikeda. Houston's lone goal came in the 18th minute.

In their second match of the day, the Fire battled to a 0-0 regulation draw with FC Midtjylland of the Danish Superliga, before their Danish counterparts were 4-2 victors in the ensuing penalty kick shootout.
Play resumes Monday morning with a match against Orlando City SC at 10:15 a.m. CT.
