CHICAGO (Aug. 10, 2022) – Chicago Fire FC II today announced that the Club has acquired Salvadoran youth international midfielder Harold Osorio via transfer from Alianza Fútbol Club. He is under contract with Chicago Fire FC II through the 2024 season, with a Club option for 2025. Financial terms were not disclosed.
“We are thrilled to have Harold join us in Chicago,” said Chicago Fire FC Technical Director Sebastian Pelzer. “Harold is a talented midfielder with a great deal of potential, who has already been tested on the international stage. We are excited to be a part of his continued development and look forward to watching him grow within our environment.”
Osorio, 18, comes to Chicago from Alianza Fútbol Club in El Salvador’s Primera Division, where he has been a part of the organization since 2021. As an 18-year-old, Osorio played made eight appearances in the 2021/22 Clausura season, and seven the following season in the 2022/23 Apertura.
Most recently, Osorio captained the El Salvador U-20 Men’s National Team side that participated in the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Men’s Championship. El Salvador advanced out of Group G with wins against Guatemala and Aruba and a scoreless draw against Panama, before falling 4-5 to the Dominican Republic in the Round of 16.
“We are very happy to welcome Harold to the Club after getting to know him and seeing his quality first-hand earlier this year,” said Chicago Fire FC II head coach Ludovic Taillandier. “At his young age, Harold has already gained first-division experience in El Salvador as well as experience representing the national team at the youth and full-team levels. We’re excited to integrate his abilities and experience into our team and hope to see him develop into a contributor for the first team within our environment.”
Osorio also has two caps for the El Salvador Men’s National Team, having made his debut in a scoreless draw against Costa Rica in an international friendly on Aug. 21, 2021 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif.
