In the second day of the MLS SuperDraft, the Chicago Fire selected University of North Carolina at Charlotte duo Brandt Bronico (47th overall) and Matej Dekovic (69th overall).

A defender hailing from Zagreb, Croatia, Dekovic appeared in 57 games for the 49ers over the course of three seasons, scoring five goals and adding eight assists. A Conference USA All-Freshman Team honoree in 2014, Dekovic garnered NSCAA First Team All-Southeast Region, First Team All-Conference USA and NCCSIA First Team All-State accolades in 2016.
Including Bronico and Dekovic, the Fire drafted a total of five players in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, selecting midfielder Daniel Johnson in the first round (11th overall), goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland (26th overall) and forward Guillermo Delgado (27th overall) in the second round.
