Chicago Fire forward and Tulsa Roughnecks FC loanee Joey Calistri bagged his fifth goal of the season for the USL outfit on Saturday night, helping Tulsa to a 2-1 victory over in-state rivals Oklahoma City.
Calistri collected the ball on a Roughnecks thrown near the Oklahoma City 18, and danced his way into the box before placing a low shot across the goalkeeper and into the net to give his side a lead they would not relinquish in the 66th minute.
The win moved Tulsa above the playoff line in the USL's Western Conference, as they jumped into eighth place with a 7-8-0 record through the season's first 15 matches.
Calistri has featured in each of those 15 matches, starting 12 times and scoring five goals so far this season. That total puts him one shy of the team lead held by Ian Svantesson.
Midfielder and fellow loanee Collin Fernandez went 79 minutes in Saturday's victory. It was the 20-year-old's 12th start and overall 13th appearance for Tulsa in 2017. Fernandez has a goal of his own this season, and has been one of Tulsa's leaders in tackles won (20) and duels won (60) from his spot in the Roughneck midfield.
Tulsa's road trip continues on Thursday, July 13, with a visit to LA Galaxy II (9:30 p.m. CT).
