U.S. Soccer Unveils New Crest

The United States Soccer Federation unveiled a redesigned crest on Monday (Feb. 29), doing so through a unique virtual reality-driven campaign.

Gone is the soccer ball-and-stars design that had served as the federation's badge since 1995, replaced by a sleek new crest that features red and white stripes lifted from the American flag.

Bypassing a traditional media announcement, Monday's release took place primarily through the social media accounts of top U.S. Soccer stars and through the distribution of 10,000 VR-equipped Google Cardboard viewers. Those who didn't receive one of the mailers can view the 360-degree video above to learn more about the inspiration behind the new crest.
