CHICAGO (Sept. 28, 2016) – Chicago Fire midfielders David Accam (Ghana) and Collin Fernandez (Peruvian Under-20s) have been called in by their respective national teams for the upcoming international break.
Accam and Ghana begin their 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying campaign when they host Uganda at the Tamale Sports Stadium in Tamale, Ghana on Oct. 7. The Black Stars have been drawn into Group E with Congo, Egypt and Uganda. Following the qualifier, Ghana will travel to Durban, South Africa for a friendly at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Oct. 11.
Fernandez, a second year Homegrown midfielder, will join the Peruvian Under-20 Men’s National Team for a training camp in Lima, Peru from Sept. 30 through Oct. 13 in preparation for the XXVIII Campeonato Sudamericano Sub-20 scheduled for January 2017 in Ecuador.
The Men in Red return to action against Seattle Sounders FC at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Wash. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 9:30 p.m. CT (CSN/97.5 FM Poder).
