CHICAGO (Aug. 29, 2016) – Three Chicago Fire players have been called in by their respective national teams. David Accam (Ghana), David Arshakyan (Armenia) and Collin Fernandez (Peruvian U-20s) have been tabbed to take part in upcoming international matches.
Accam and Ghana play host to Rwanda at Accra Sports Stadium for a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sept. 3. With one qualifier remaining, Ghana sits atop Group H with 13 points and has secured their spot in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. The Black Stars then travel to face Russia in Moscow for an international friendly on Sept. 6.
Arshakyan, who made his Fire debut against D.C. United on Aug. 27, and Armenia face the Czech Republic in an international friendly on Aug. 31 at adidas Arena in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic before taking on Denmark in a World Cup Qualifying match at Telia Parken in Copenhagen on Sept. 4.
Fernandez, a second year Homegrown midfielder, has joined the Peru for a training camp in Lima. The U-20s have matches against Paraguay on Aug. 31 and local club side San Martin on Sept. 3.
The Men in Red return to action when they host the Philadelphia Union at Toyota Park on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m. CT (CSN+/97.5 FM Poder).
