CHICAGO (Jan. 12, 2016) – United States Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has added Chicago Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson to the roster for the first training camp of 2016 at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. The camp runs through Feb. 6 and features friendlies against Iceland on Jan. 31 and Canada on Feb. 5.
Hailing from Lilburn, Ga., Johnson made his international debut on Jan. 22, 2011 against Chile. Johnson earned his first start for the U.S. Men’s National Team and earned the shutout in a 0-0 draw with Canada at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas Jan. 29. The 26-year-old 'keeper has been capped five times. In six seasons as a professional, Johnson has 154 regular season appearances for the Men in Red, earning 31 shutouts and making 480 career saves.
Johnson replaces injured goalkeeper Bill Hamid on the camp roster. Johnson is the second Fire player to be named to the roster, joining Matt Polster in the camp. Polster is part of the group of young players in camp who are eligible for the U-23 side that in March takes on Colombia in a home and away playoff for the final berth in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
