MUNICH, Germany(Aug. 28, 2018) – The Chicago Fire fell 4-0 to reigning German Bundesliga champions FC Bayern Munich in Bastian Schweinsteiger’s testimonial match on Tuesday evening at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Schweinsteiger captained the Fire for the first half and represented his former side in the second half.
Serge Gnabry opened scoring for the hosts in the seventh minute when a low, driven shot that deflected off a Fire defender and into goal. Sandro Wagner doubled the lead in the 38th minute with his header on the far post.
After halftime, Bayern pulled ahead 3-0 when Arjen Robben’s deflected left-footed shot found net in the 63rd minute.
Schweinsteiger then capped his celebratory evening by scoring in the 83rd minute.
