RESERVES: Chicago Fire down Montreal Impact 1-0 on Monday

CHICAGO (Monday, Oct. 6, 2014)  – The Chicago Fire defeated the Montreal Impact 1-0 in MLS Reserve League action Monday morning on the Toyota Park Practice Field. Guest player Bubacarr Jobe tallied the lone goal of the match as the Men in Red finished atop the MLS Reserve League standings with a 5-1-2 record.


The Men in the Red scored the lone goal of the match in the 28th minute. A long ball from Benji Joya sent Fire Academy player Andrew Gutman down the left side, where Gutman played the ball square to Jobe, who tapped the ball into the back of the net.


Montreal had its best chance in the 91st minute when Felipe was awarded a free kick from about 35 yards from goal. The Brazilian attempted to chip the ensuing free kick over the wall but Chicago Fire Academy player Cameron Lindley cleared it just before the final whistle.


Notes:

-       Fire goalkeeper Alec Kann served as a guest player for Montreal in the match, playing the full 90 minutes in goal for Montreal in place of Impact ‘keeper Maxime Crepeau, who was a late scratch.
