CHICAGO, Ill.(August 11, 2013) –The Chicago Fire defeated the Montreal Impact 2-1 in MLS Reserve League action Sunday morning at Toyota Park. The Impact went ahead in the 30th minute courtesy of a Blake Smith strike but a Quincy Amarikwa brace that included a 34th minute bicycle kick led the Fire to victory.
The visitors opened scoring in the 30th minute when Felipe Martins played the ball through behind the Fire defense for Blake Smith. The Impact forward raced into the box and slotted the ball under Fire ‘keeper Alec Kann to put the Impact ahead 1-0.
The Men in Red would equalize four minutes later with a brilliant display of athleticism from Quincy Amarikwa. From the left flank, Hunter Jumper crossed the ball to Michael Videira on the far post, who played the ball down for Amarikwa. With his back towards goal, Amarikwa popped the ball up and with a sensational bicycle kick, equalized for the Fire.
Amarikwa would complete his brace in the 59th minute when Maicon Santos won the ball just inside the Impact half and played the ball forward for Amarikwa, who raced into the 18 yard box and slammed his right-footed shot past an outstretched Bush to give the Fire the 2-1 victory.
