Just one day after re-signing with the Chicago Fire, Lovel Palmer received more good news as Section 8 Chicago announced the Jamaican defender as the Independent Supporter Association's 2014 Player of the Year.
Palmer garners the award after receiving the most votes in a poll open to all Chicago Fire supporters based on who they felt best represented the club in 2014.
"I'm beyond honored to be chosen as our fans player of the year," Palmer told Chicago-Fire.com. "They've made my move to Chicago this season a simple one and playing for them every match has been a joy."
Along with the award, Palmer will also be given $1000 to donate to the charity of his choice with the veteran defender selecting the charitable arm of the club that helped launch his career, Harbour View FC in Jamaica.
Fire supporters are invited to help honor Palmer with the Award Ceremony set to take place this Saturday, November 1 at The Atlantic Bar & Grille (5062 N. Lincoln Ave.) following the Section 8 Chicago November Board Meeting.
The ceremony will begin around 4:30pm (MORE INFO)
