Alexandre Monteiro De Lima, simply known as Alex, played for three seasons in Switzerland before joining the Fire in 2012. Upon joining the Men in Red, the Brazilian midfielder led the team to its first MLS Cup Playoff appearance in three seasons. While he only scored one goal this season, it was arguably one of the most memorable of 2013 as he tallied in the 86th minute to cap a thrilling comeback win over New England Revolution on September 14 at home.
Q. Which is the goal or game that you remember the most?
The game I remember most was the match against Montreal Impact in 2012 at Toyota Park when I scored one of my two goals last season.
Q. What do you want to achieve in the next ten years?
I’d like to play soccer for just six more years. After that, I’d like to move back to Brazil to be with my family and just enjoy their company.
Q. Who or what inspires you and why? What is the most important lesson you learned in life?
The person that inspires me the most is another midfielder who is also named Alex. He started playing for Cortiba in Brazil and went on to be successful in Turkey at Fenerbahce.
In the six years I’ve been away from my family, I’ve learned the meaning of life and how much my family really means to me.
Q. How would your teammates describe you?
I get along with everyone so it really depends who you ask, but I think I’m friends with everyone, so I hope they’d say I’m friendly!
Q. Who would play you in an action film and why? What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done?
Whoever he is, the actor has to be the one in the middle of all of the action because I’m very aggressive.
The most daring thing I’ve ever done is play soccer, starting from when I was very young and becoming a professional.
Q. When you were five years old, what did you want to be when you grew up and why?
I have always wanted to be a soccer player, ever since I was very little.
