Starting XI ListStarting XI List 1920x1080

A busy week for the Fire wraps up this evening with a Saturday night showdown against the New York Red Bulls at Solder Field.

Coming out of a 2-1 defeat at Atlanta United on Sunday, the Fire were 3-0 victors in their third round matchup of the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tournament against Chicago House AC of the Midwest Premier League on Wednesday night. The Red Bulls are currently riding a five-match winless streak (0-2-3) that includes a 2-0 road defeat to Montreal last weekend. As it stands, New York reside in 13th place in the Eastern Conference with eight points taken from nine matches.

Catch tonight's kickoff at 7:30 p.m. CT live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV when the opening whistle blows at Soldier Field. The match will also be transmitted locally in English on 890 WLS-AM and in Spanish on TUDN 1200 AM. Tonight's match marks the debut of the Club's first-ever English-language radio broadcast, which will feature a 30-minute pre-match show, beginning at 7:00 p.m. CT, followed by a 30-minute post-match show directly after the match, live on 890 WLS-AM. Until then, get familiar with tonight's starters in the lineup notes below:

  • Three changes have been made to the lineup that took on Atlanta United in MLS regular season play last Sunday.
  • Midfielder Federico Navarro makes his first regular season start since the Fire's season opener on March 4. The Argentine previously missed six-straight matches due to a left upper leg injury suffered in that match. Navarro also started and played 45 minutes in the Fire's midweek U.S. Open Cup win over Chicago House AC on Wednesday.
  • Federico Navarro is one of three of tonight's starters who also started in Wednesday's Open Cup game, alongside Miguel Navarro and Maren Haile-Selassie.
  • Gastón Giménez - Navarro's partner in defensive midfield tonight - is back in the starting XI after appearing as a substitute both in Atlanta last weekend and in the Open Cup on Wednesday.
  • Miguel Navarro did not play in last Sunday's match in Atlanta, and replaces Jonathan Dean in the XI tonight. He'll line up opposite Arnaud Souquet at fullback this evening.
  • Defender Carlos Terán makes his ninth-straight start of the season, remaining one of only three Fire players alongside Souquet and Captain Rafael Czichos - who lines up alongside Terán tonight - to start every match so far this season. After becoming a staple in the Fire's starting lineup, Terán was rewarded when it was announced on Saturday morning that the 22-year-old Colombian had signed to a new contract through the 2026 season with a Club option for 2027.
  • In the attack, midfielders Haile-Selassie, Brian Gutiérrez, and Chris Mueller will look to feed Kei Kamara, who lines up at the forward position tonight for the fourth-straight regular season match. Gutiérrez remains the team's leader in assists with four entering the match tonight, while Kamara leads all Fire goal-scorers with three so far this season.
  • 19-year-old goalkeeper Chris Brady backstops the unit in net tonight, making his eighth start of the campaign.
  • Available to Hendrickson as substitutions today are goalkeeper Spencer Richey, defender Alonso Aceves, defender Jonathan Dean, defender/midfielder Mauricio Pineda, midfielder Fabian Herbers, midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, midfielder Jairo Torres, forward Georgios Koutsias, and forward Kacper Przybyłko.
  • Forward Victor Bezerra (left upper leg) is unavailable for selection due to injury tonight.
