Chicago hosts New York City FC tonight in the Club’s second home game of July at Soldier Field. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the match will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass and transmitted locally on wlsam.com (English) and WRTO 1200 AM (Spanish).
Head Coach Frank Klopas looks to lead the Fire to their first win against NYCFC at Soldier Field after defeating the Philadelphia Union 4-3 in their last game at home last Wednesday, July 3.
The Fire face a New York City side that is playing their second straight road game. New York fell 2-1 to Austin FC at Q2 Stadium last Saturday before traveling to the Windy City.
- Frank Klopas will use the same Chicago Fire lineup that faced the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday, July 7 at PayPal Park.
- Gastón Gimenéz returns to the XI for the eighth time this season and will don the captain’s armband for the second consecutive match in 2024.
- Hugo Cuypers starts his 23rd game of the season, making him the only player to start every game for the Fire in 2024. Cuypers leads the team with nine goals, two of which were scored in the team’s previous match at home against the Philadelphia Union on July 3.
- Maren Haile-Selassie starts for the 15th time this season, making his 50th appearance for the Men in Red since joining the Club in 2023.
- Rafael Czichos starts for the fourth straight game and 20th overall in 2024.
- Chris Brady starts for the 22nd time in the 2024 MLS regular season, having missed only one game due to international duty.
- Kellyn Acosta starts for the 20th time in 2024 for the Men in Red.
- Wyatt Omsberg makes his third consecutive start for the Fire in 2024, playing in his third match of the season.
- Allan Arigoni starts for the 20th time this season, having started in every game for which he has played for the Fire.
- Arnaud Souquet starts his fourth straight match, and 10th overall of the 2024 MLS regular season for the Men in Red.
- Brian Gutiérrez starts his 19th MLS regular season match of 2024, and plays in his 110 overall match for his hometown club.
- Chris Mueller makes his 10th start for the Fire in 2024, and the 41st time overall.
- Defenders Chase Gasper (leg), Andrew Gutman (leg), and Carlos Terán (leg); and midfielders Fabian Herbers (yellow card accumulation) and Federico Navarro (leg) are unavailable for today’s match.
