Lineup Notes | Chicago Fire FC vs. Nashville SC

Chicago hosts Nashville SC in the team’s final game of the 2024 MLS regular season at Soldier Field on Saturday evening. Beginning at 5:00 p.m. CT, the match will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass and transmitted locally on WLS 890 AM (English) and WRTO 1200 AM (Spanish).

Nashville arrives in the Windy City also out of playoff contention and looking to snap a four-game winless streak. Most recently, Nashville fell 3-1 to New York City FC on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Chicago returns to the field for the first time since Wednesday, Oct. 2, when the team traveled to face Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium. Despite goals from Fabian Herbers, Kellyn Acosta and Tom Barlow, Chicago was unable to complete the comeback in the 4-3 loss.

  • Frank Klopas has made six changes to the lineup that faced Charlotte FC on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
  • Kellyn Acosta wears the captain’s armband as he starts for the 27th time this season for the Fire. Acosta is playing in his 34th match of the 2024 MLS regular season.
  • Chris Brady starts in his single-season record 33rd regular season match. The Naperville native only missed one match during the 2024 MLS regular season due to international duty.
  • Hugo Cuypers makes his 30th start of the MLS regular season. Cuypers and Brady are the only Fire players to have started every game in which they played in 2024.
  • Arnaud Souquet starts in his 17th straight match, and his 22nd overall, across all competitions for the Fire in 2024.
  • Brian Gutiérrez makes his 25th start of the 2024 MLS regular season. Gutiérrez’s six goals so far in 2024 are a career high for the Homegrown Player.
  • Jonathan Dean starts for a second straight match and for the 12th time overall in 2024.
  • Mauricio Pineda returns to the starting lineup for the first time in the regular season since June 22 against Orlando City SC to earn his 11th start of the season and his 101st career MLS start with the Chicago Fire.
  • Tobias Salquist earns his 10th start of the season, playing from the outset for the first time since Sept. 22 against CF Montréal.
  • Federico Navarro makes his eighth start of the season, starting for the first time since Sept. 22 against CF Montréal.
  • Chris Mueller makes his 15th start of the 2024 MLS regular season, and his first since Sept. 22 against CF Montréal.
  • Maren Haile-Selassie returns to the starting XI for the first time following the birth of his first child. It is Haile-Selassie’s 23rd start of the 2024 MLS regular season.
  • Defenders Chase Gasper (leg), Andrew Gutman (leg) and Wyatt Omsberg (leg); and midfielder Fabian Herbers (leg) are unavailable for today’s match.
  • Available off the bench for Coach Klopas are goalkeeper Spencer Richey; defenders Allan Arigoni, Rafael Czichos, Justin Reynolds and Carlos Terán; midfielders Gastón Giménez and Ariel Lassiter; and forwards Tom Barlow and Georgios Koutsias.
