Lineup Notes | Chicago Fire FC at CF Montréal

Chicago travels north to face CF Montréal at Stade Saputo tonight. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT, the match will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass and transmitted locally on wlsam.com (English) and WRTO 1200 AM (Spanish).

The last time the two Eastern Conference rivals met resulted in a record-setting night for the Fire on March 16, 2024, at Soldier Field. Chicago scored three goals in the final 15 minutes of the match, including two in second-half stoppage time, coming from behind to defeat Montréal, 4-3.

Both Chicago and Montréal are battling it out for a spot in the playoffs, with Montréal just two points and one place above the Fire in the Eastern Conference standings.

  • Frank Klopas has made four changes to the lineup that faced Nashville SC on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
  • GastĂ³n GimĂ©nez makes his 16th straight regular season start and wears the captain’s armband for the 12th straight match. It is the 102nd career Chicago Fire start for the Argentine.

  • Brian GutiĂ©rrez returns to the lineup for the first time since taking on D.C. United on Saturday, Sept. 7 at SeatGeek Stadium. GutiĂ©rrez makes his 24th overall start of the 2024 MLS regular season, and his six goals so far in 2024 are a single-season high for the Homegrown player.
  • Ariel Lassiter lines up against his former club, making his third-straight start for the Fire since joining the Club in August.
  • Tom Barlow makes his second-straight start of 2024 and his fifth start of the regular season.
  • Arnaud Souquet starts his 14th straight match, and his 19th overall across all competitions for the Fire in 2024.
  • Federico Navarro starts for the first time since facing Inter Miami CF on Saturday, Aug. 31. Navarro’s appearance is his 14th of the season and 72nd overall for the Fire.
  • Tobias Salquist makes his second straight start, and ninth overall start of the regular season for the Fire.
  • Wyatt Omsberg starts for the third straight match of the 2024 MLS regular season.
  • Chris Mueller makes his 14th start of the regular season and 45th career start for the Men in Red.
  • Jonathan Dean starts his 10th match of the season for the Men in Red, starting from the outset for the 23rd time overall in his Fire career.
  • Defenders Allan Arigoni (leg), Rafael Czichos (leg), Chase Gasper (leg), Andrew Gutman (leg) and Carlos TerĂ¡n (leg) are unavailable for today’s match. Forward Hugo Cuypers is also unavailable for today’s match due to an excused absence. Cuypers and his wife Pauline recently welcomed a new addition to their family with the birth of their son.
  • Available off the bench for Coach Klopas are goalkeeper Spencer Richey, defender Justin Reynolds; defender/midfielder Mauricio Pineda; midfielders Kellyn Acosta, Javier Casas Jr., Maren Haile-Selassie, and Fabian Herbers; and forward Georgios Koutsias.
