Chicago Fire FC eMLS player Guillermo TreviƱo -- known by handle Kid M3mito -- competed in the final two nights of eMLS League Series One qualifying on Tuesday and Wednesday, finishing with five wins and a loss across both nights.
This weekās contests were the second in a pair of qualifying rounds ahead of this weekendās League Series One Tournament, in which the top eight finishers in qualifying will compete for a place in the tournamentās Grand Final held on Jan. 17.
Kid M3mito wrapped up qualifying with a 3-2 win over CF MontrĆ©al's mehdibob3 and a 3-1 win against St. Louis City's HASIB. Despite the strong finish to the qualifying campaign, he ultimately finished one point shy of qualification for this weekendās tournament.
After 14 matches played, Kid M3mito compiled 25 points with a record of 8-1-5.
League Series One is just the first of three eMLS tournaments in 2021.
Kid M3Mito will get his next crack at eMLS competition early next month, when League Series Two qualifying begins on Feb. 2-3. Heāll play seven matches across both nights, before playing five more matches in a second round of qualifying held on Feb. 9.
Similar to League Series One, the top eight qualifiers will then advance to the League Series Two Tournament, for which theyāll compete in a seeded bracket for a place in the Grand Final. The tournament can be viewed at twitch.tv/MLS, twitter.com/MLS, on mlssoccer.com, or on the free MLS app.
First up on Kid M3mitoās League Series Two qualifying schedule is Philadelphiaās cisseSZN, who finished in fourth place in League Series One qualifying. The pair will kick things off on Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. CT
Qualifying records from both League Series One and League Series Two count toward the overall eMLS standings, and will help determine which competitors advance to the eMLS Cup Playoffs in March.
