Prior to Wednesday night's opening match of the MLS is Back Tournament between Orlando City SC and Inter Miami CF, over 100 members of the newly formed Black Players for Change organized for a joint protest ahead of kickoff. The message delivered by their eight minute and 46 second demonstration has been echoed in solidarity by the league's clubs and players throughout the opening days of the tournament.

On Tuesday, Chicago Fire captain Francisco Calvo will wear a Black Lives Matter themed armband designed by Chicago-based artist Dwight White.

🆚 #CHIvSEA All-Time

Tuesday’s match will mark the second meeting between the Fire and Sounders FC this season. Chicago previously faced Seattle in its first game of the 2020 MLS regular season on March 1, narrowly falling 2-1 at CenturyLink Field in Seattle. Forward Robert Berić scored his first career MLS goal to give the Fire the lead early in the second half, but Seattle managed to equalize in the 63rd minute before scoring a second goal in the third minute of second-half stoppage time.

The Fire are 2-9-4 against the Sounders dating back to 2009, Seattle's first year in MLS.
