Before wrapping up his European scouting trip this week, Chicago Fire head coach Frank Klopas stopped by the headquarters of new Strategic Alliance partner Atletico Madrid to get to know the club’s processes and exchange knowledge and ideas with the club’s coaching staff.
Char">During his stay with at Atletico, Klopas took in training with the club’s first team as well as their reserves (Atletico B) and youth sides (Atletico C).
Char">During the sessions, the Fire manager chatted with an old friend Milinko Pantic (coach of Atletico B) who he played against in the Greek SuperLiga during his time with AEK Athens. Klopas also had the opportunity to meet with Carlos Aguilera (director of youth football at Atletico Madrid)  to discuss the possibility of exchanging players in the future and opening channels of sports development in other countries for youths that are starting their career in the game.
_Char">Before making his way back to the U.S., Klopas took in Atletico’s 3-1 victory over Stade Rennes Thursday night at the Vicente Calderon. The result gave Atletico top spot in their group and advancement to the next round of the tournament.
