It’s been widely reported that the Fire have acquired the services of 2013 Galaxy leading goal scorer and South Barrington native Mike Magee (photo right) in exchange for Rogers' MLS rights.

The Galaxy have scheduled a press conference to "announce a player acquisition" Saturday at 12:30pm PT (2:30pm CT).

Though the appears to be done, it is unlikely Magee will be available for selection by Frank Klopas Saturday night at Real Salt Lake.

More likely is that the Magee will make his Fire debut in the team’s third round U.S. Open Cup match next Wednesday at the Charlotte Eagles.

No ILLUSIONS, Soumare Available for Selection

The other player acquired by the Fire this week, Bakary Soumare will be available for selection against RSL.

Prior to leaving Philadelphia Thursday, Soumare told reporters he was ready to play should Klopas call upon him Saturday night.

The Malian international arrived in Chicago late that night before departing Midway for Salt Lake City with the team early Friday morning and took in his first training session back with the team Friday afternoon at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Earlier this week Klopas said “he hadn’t made up his mind” when asked about who would potentially start at right back in the absence of the suspended Wells Thompson.

If Soumare gets a start for the Fire, it would likely come next to Austin Berry at the heart of defense, pushing Jalil Anibaba back out to the right side.

Did you know that the Chicago Fire are the only MLS team to hold a winning record over Real Salt Lake in the state of Utah?

Since RSL came into MLS in 2005, the Fire are 3-2-2 on the Wasatch Front and have even done reasonably well (1-1-1) at Rio Tinto Stadium where RSL is 45-9-17 all-time since opening in 2008.

Maeby you should listen to this week’s All-In Podcast where RSL analyst Brian Dunseth speaks to RSL’s home dominance since 2008.

ANNYONG, Ante Razov

Should Chris Rolfe appear in tonight’s match, he’ll move past Ante Razov and into ninth on the club’s all-time MLS regular season appearance list with 156.
