Chicago Fire FC forward Robert Berić has been selected to the Week 31 MLS Team of the Week after his first half brace helped the Fire come away with a 4-3 road victory at FC Cincinnati on Wednesday night.
Berić got the scoring started early by capitalizing on Cincinnati goalkeeper Przemysław Tytoń's bobbled save attempt off a Mauricio Pineda shot and putting the rebound in the net from close range in the 14th minute.
Just three minutes later, Berić again found himself in the right place to finish off a sequence inside the Cincinnati 18. After an Ignacio Aliseda attempt was pushed away by a diving effort from Tytoń, Berić was right there to put it away in stride. The finish gave the Slovenian center forward his first multi-goal game for the Fire.
The Fire would go on to claim all three points in dramatic fashion, as second half goals from Álvaro Medrán and Luka Stojanović helped Chicago put away a Cincinnati resurgence and emerge as 4-3 victors.
Berić and the Fire return to action this Saturday night, as the Fire return to Soldier Field for their final home match of the 2021 season - Fan Appreciation Night against Real Salt Lake. Kickoff for that match is set for 7 p.m. CT, and tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
