Bruce Arena made six changes to his active U.S. Men's National Team roster Sunday following the group stage of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, but Fire midfielder Dax McCarty was not one of them.
McCarty is now set to remain with the U.S. for the duration of its stay in the regional tournament as Arena's side looks to reclaim the Gold Cup trophy. The midfielder started two group stage matches and entered a third as a reserve, bringing his total to 10 career caps for the U.S. senior squad.
Joining the roster for the knockout rounds are goalkeepers Tim Howard and Jesse Gonzalez, midfielders Michael Bradley and Darlington Nagbe and forwards Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey.

Departing camp are midfielders Alejandro Bedoya, Cristian Roldan and Kelyn Rowe, forward Dom Dwyer and goalkeepers Brad Guzan and Sean Johnson. Johnson's imminent return to NYCFC makes it likely he'll be in goal to face his former club of seven seasons when the first-place Fire travel to Yankee Stadium for their next MLS match on Saturday (July 22) at 1 p.m. CT (CSN Chicago Plus).
As winners of Group B, the U.S. is awaiting the results of Sunday's Group C contests to learn its Gold Cup quarterfinal opponent, with that match scheduled for Wednesday in Philadelphia. The tournament semifinals are set for next weekend (July 22 and 23) with the final to be contested Wednesday, July 26 in Santa Clara, Calif.
McCarty has started 15 matches and logged 1,350 minutes with three assists in his first season with Chicago (11-3-5, 38 pts.), who stand level on points with Toronto FC for first place in the Eastern Conference and Supporters' Shield standings.
