As determined via a coin flip on Thursday, the Chicago Fire will be on the road when they enter the Fourth Round of the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, June 14, at a time TBD.
The Fire will visit the winner of a third round matchup between the United Soccer League's (USL) Saint Louis FC and the Michigan Bucks of the Premier Development League (PDL), which will take place on Tuesday, May 30 at 7 p.m. CT at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac, Mich.
The four-time U.S. Open Cup champion Fire have never before faced Saint Louis FC, the club's former USL affiliate, but did have a 2012 U.S. Open Cup encounter on the road against the Michigan Bucks. The Bucks notched a 3-2 upset winin extra time, advancing to the tournament's fourth round.
In addition to its four trophies raised in the historic tournament, Chicago has appeared in a U.S. Open Cup-record 12 tournament semifinals, including an active run of four straight years and five of the last six. The Fire own an all-time U.S. Open Cup record of 41-14-5.
