BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- Following Thursday's 2-0 defeat at Real Salt Lake, the LA Galaxy joined the Chicago Fire in the MLS offseason.
Hours before the match though, former Galaxy forward Mike Magee was asked for his thoughts on former teammate Landon Donovan's seeming endorsement of him for the league's 2013 Most Valuable Player award during the team's final media gathering of the year.
A week-and-a-half out from the team's 5-2 season-ending defeat at New York, Magee was more affected by the way the year ended than the praise Donovan bestowed, saying:
"I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the season," he told reporters. "Landon’s obviously a good friend of mine, so it might have been more of a friend comment, so I’ll take it for what it is. But there’s no thought into any individual accolades."
The comment continued to show Magee's team-first mentality, one that's been in place since his first training session with the Fire on May 27.
Though 2013 will easily go down as the best individual season of Magee's 11-year MLS career, after two straight MLS Cup wins with the Galaxy, it doesn't seem like it'll be one long in his memory.
Asked what he planned on doing with his offseason, Magee replied, "Try my best to vacation and find a way to forget about last season. And once that happens, I’ll start to ramp up and get fit for next season."
