CHICAGO (March 15, 2017) – Chicago Fire midfielder Dax McCarty has been selected by U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Bruce Arena to the 24-man roster for the upcoming World Cup Qualifying matches against Honduras and Panama.
McCarty will report to San Jose, Calif. on March 19 ahead of USA-Honduras, presented by Volpi Foods. The game will take place on Friday, March 24 at 9:30 p.m. CT at Avaya Stadium (FS1/Univision). The United States then travels to take on Panama at Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City, Panama on March 28 at 9:05 p.m. CT (beIN SPORTS/Telemundo).
McCarty joined the Men in Red on Jan. 16, 2017 and has started both of the Fire’s matches this season.
The Fire are 1-0-1 to open the 2017 season with McCarty earning MLS Team of the Week honors for his performance in a 2-0 win against Real Salt Lake on Saturday.
McCarty, who most recently took part in the annual January Camp, received his first senior cap as a sub on November 14, 2009 in an international friendly with Slovakia and has since made six total appearances for the USMNT.
