BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (June 7, 2018) – The Chicago Fire continue its 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup campaign when they take on Atlanta United in the Round of 16 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. on June 20 at 6:30 p.m. CT.
The two sides were drawn into the Mideast Region with Louisville City FC and Nashville SC. The winner of the Fire vs. Atlanta United match will host the quarterfinal on July 18.
The Fire advanced by taking down Columbus Crew SC 10 to 9 in a penalty kick shootout after the two sides ended regulation and extra time tied 2-2 on June 6.
Atlanta United defeated the Charleston Battery 3-0 to advance to the next round.
In addition to its four trophies raised in the historic tournament in 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006, the Fire have appeared in 12 tournament semifinals, including five in the last seven years. The Fire own an all-time U.S. Open Cup record of 42-14-7.
