Chicago Fire Soccer Club Acquires $150,000 in General Allocation Money, Rights to a Player To-Be-Named during 2019 MLS SuperDraft

CHICAGO (Jan. 11, 2019) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club today acquired $150,000 in General Allocation Money and the rights to a player to-be-named at a later date during the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, presented by adidas, at McCormick Place in Chicago.


Beginning the draft with the No. 5 overall SuperDraft selection, the Fire received the No. 15 overall pick and $100,000 in General Allocation Money from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for the No. 5 overall selection. The Fire then acquired $50,000 in General Allocation Money from Minnesota United FC in exchange for the No. 15 overall pick.


In the second round, the Fire acquired the rights to a player to-be-named at a later date from the New York Red Bulls in exchange for No. 32 overall pick.


The Fire currently possess three additional selections in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, including the No. 53, 55 and 77 overall picks in the third and fourth rounds. The third and fourth rounds will be held via a conference call on Monday, Jan. 14 at Noon CT.
