BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (Aug. 30, 2019) – Chicago Fire midfielder Djordje Mihailović has been named to the U.S. U-23 Men’s National Team roster for the team’s training camp at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. Mihailović will join the U-23s after the Fire’s away match against Columbus Crew SC on Saturday, Aug. 31, and return prior to Chicago’s home game against FC Dallas on Saturday, Sept. 14.
As part of its training camp in Chula Vista, the U.S. U-23s will face Japan’s U-23 side in a friendly match on Monday, Sept. 9, at 7:00 p.m. CT. The team’s training camp and match against Japan will serve as preparation for the 2020 Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Championship, set to be held from March 20 – April 1, 2020 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Mihailović, 20, has made two appearances for the U-23 USMNT in 2019, featuring in matches against the U-23 sides for Egypt (March 22) and the Netherlands (March 24). At the senior team level, the midfielder has also earned five caps under Head Coach Gregg Berhalter in 2019. More recently, the Fire Academy product made two appearances (one start) for the U.S. in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, featuring against Panama and Guyana.
