Chicago Fire FC and Avocados from Peru Announce Winners of the First Guacamole Challenge

CHICAGO (August 8, 2024) – Chicago Fire FC and Avocados for Peru, in collaboration with Mariano’s, today announced the winners of the Guacamole Challenge – Chicago Fire Defender Justin Reynolds and FOX 32 “Good Day Chicago” Co-Anchor Natalie Bomke. The Guacamole Challenge – which was held at the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) following a Club-wide volunteer day – pitted five teams of Chicago Fire First Team Players and local media members against each other to make the tastiest, unique guacamole recipe. As part of the Guacamole Challenge, Avocados From Peru donated 100,000 avocados to the GCFD to support local food banks and shelters as part of their mission to “Fight Hunger with Nutrition.”

Reynolds and Bomke faced off in the Guacamole Challenge against four other pairs which included Fire Goalkeeper Chris Brady and WGN Morning News “Around Town” Reporter Ana Belaval, Defender Chase Gasper and 94.7 WLS-AM Radio Host Cara Carriveau, Defender Jonathan Dean and On Tap Sports Soccer Reporter Joe Chatz, and Midfielder Fabian Herbers with award-winning media personality Candace Jordan.

Reynolds and Bomke won the coveted Silver Avocado Trophy after impressing the judges in both the preliminary and final rounds with a flavorful recipe featuring avocados from Peru. Media Assets of the Guacamole Challenge below.

Chicago Fire FC and Avocados From Peru have launched the #AvoFire Ultimate Soccer Sweepstakes, providing fans with the opportunity to win an array of different prizes, including Chicago Fire VIP experiences, a Mariano’s shopping spree, and the highlight of the sweepstakes – the AVO Fire Co-branded 2024 Tesla Model Y, wrapped in Fire-themed decals featuring the logos of Avocados from Peru, Mariano’s, and the Chicago Fire. Fans can enter the #AvoFire Ultimate Soccer Sweepstakes by registering at chicagofirefc.com/avocados or at their local Mariano’s market, via a QR code that will appear on the AVO Fire Co-branded Vehicle as it moves throughout Chicago and Chicago Fire, Mariano’s and Avocados from Peru Instagram channels, The #AvoFire Ultimate Soccer Sweepstakes will run until September 16, 2024, which marks National Guacamole Day. Three semifinalists will be chosen at random with the winner of the #AvoFire Ultimate Soccer Sweepstakes being determined by halftime competition during the Club’s match against Toronto FC on September 28, 2024.

Chicago will return to League play on August 24 against New York City FC at 6:30 p.m. at Citi Field in Queens, New York. The match will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass, streamed on wlsam.com in English, and transmitted locally in Spanish.

The Fire will be back on the lakefront for their most anticipated match of the season on August 31 versus Inter Miami CF at Soldier Field. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the match will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass and will be transmitted locally in English on WLS 890 AM and WRTO 1200 AM in Spanish.
