BRONX, N.Y. (Sept. 26, 2018) – The Chicago Fire (7-16-7, 28 points) fell 2-0 to New York City FC (15-8-8, 53 points) at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night.

After a scoreless first half, the hosts took the lead in the 47th minute courtesy of a left-footed strike from distance by midfielder Alex Ring (VIDEO). A right-footed finish by Spanish star David Villa in the 51st minute helped NYCFC clinch a spot in the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs (VIDEO).


The Fire next return home for their first-ever meeting against expansion side Los Angeles Football Club at Toyota Park on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast nationally on Univision Deportes and locally on Univision Radio WRTO AM 1200.
