Chicago Fire Earn Valuable Road Point With 1-1 Draw At Toronto FC

TORONTO, Ontario(Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013) – The Chicago Fire (10-11-6, 36 points) drew Toronto FC (4-13-11, 23 points) 1-1 Wednesday evening at BMO Field. Dilly Duka’s lofted goal in the 20^th minute helped the Men in Red earn the valuable point on the road.
The Fire now return home to play their third game in eight days when they welcome the New England Revolution to Toyota Park on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. CT (My50/La Ley 107.9). This match will serve as Sustainability Night presented by the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program. The first 5,000 fans in the stadium will receive a limited edition Fire scarf. Notes:
-With the draw, the Fire move to 7-3-5 all-time in regular season matches against Toronto FC, and 4-3-2 in matches played at BMO Field.
-Dilly Duka’s goal in the 20^th minute of the match was his fourth of the season. In his first season with the Fire, Duka has doubled his previous career goal scoring numbers and now sits with six in his MLS career.
-The Fire were without the services of midfielders Joel Lindpere (Estonia) and Arevalo Rios (Uruguay) who were with their respective national teams for FIFA World Cup Qualifying.
-Patrick Nyarko returned to the starting lineup for the first time in a MLS match since the Fire’s 2-1 road win against the Philadelphia Union on Aug. 4.
-Third year defender Jalil Anibaba made his 100th competitive appearance for the Men in Red. The Davis, Calif. native, along with Austin Berry, are the only two Fire players to play every minute of the Fire’s 2013 campaign.
