CHICAGO(June 15, 2016) – The Chicago Fire will hit the road to face USL side FC Cincinnati in the Round of 16 of the 104th Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, as decided in Thursday’s draw at U.S. Soccer House in Chicago. The match will be played on Wednesday, June 28 at 6:30 p.m. CT at Nippert Stadium on the campus of the University of Cincinnati.
Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, June 21 at Noon CT and will be available via FCCincinnati.com and Section 8 Chicago's web site.
The Fire advanced to the Round of 16 after defeating Saint Louis FC 1-0 Wednesday night at Toyota Stadium in Fenton, Mo. They’ll now face the eighth-place team in the USL Eastern Conference, FC Cincinnati, after the Ohio-based club upended MLS side Columbus Crew SC, 1-0, at home.
Should Chicago win in Cincinnati, the Fire would travel to face the winner of Miami FC (NASL) and Atlanta United FC (MLS). That match would take place between July 7-16.

Since their inaugural season in 1998, the Fire have compiled a 42-14-5 record in Open Cup play. Chicago has reached the semifinal round 12 times and the final six times. Additionally, the Fire have hoisted the coveted domestic cup on four occasions – 1998, 2000, 2003, and 2006.
The Men in Red return to MLS play when they face the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. on Saturday, June 17 at 6:30 p.m. CT (CSN/Univision Chicago 1200AM).
