BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (Oct. 5, 2019) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club today announced that defender Francisco Calvo and midfielder Przemysław Frankowski have been called up by Costa Rica and Poland, respectively.
Calvo, 27, will join Costa Rica for a pair of Concacaf Nations League matches. Costa Rica will begin play on Oct. 10 against Haiti. The match is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. CT and will take place at the Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Calvo and Costa Rica will then return home to face Curaçao on Oct. 13. The match will be held at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica, with a scheduled start time of 7:00 p.m. CT.
Calvo has earned 47 caps for Costa Rica since making his senior team debut in 2011, including two appearances in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. More recently, Calvo recorded an appearance for Costa Rica in the 2019 Gold Cup against Haiti on June 24 at Red Bull Arena.
Frankowski, 24, will join Poland for a pair of UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying matches. Poland will first face Latvia on Thursday, Oct. 10. Set to begin at 1:45 p.m. CT, the match will be held at Daugava Stadium in Riga, Latvia. The team will then travel back to Poland for a match against North Macedonia on Sunday, Oct. 13. The match will be held at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland, and will begin at 1:45 p.m. CT.
A native of Gdansk, Poland, Frankowski made his debut for Poland’s senior team on March 23, 2018, in an international friendly against Nigeria. Since making his international debut, Frankowski has earned six additional caps for Poland, including an appearance in a 1-1 draw against Portugal in the UEFA Nations League on Nov. 20, 2018.
