The Chicago Fire Foundation recently continued its longstanding partnership with After School Matters, a nonprofit organization in Chicago that allows teens to become actively engaged in the arts, sports, technology or communications.
Teaming up with the Chicago Fire's Soccer In The Community (SITC) program, the club provided $1,500 worth of soccer equipment, including goals, balls, pinnies, cones, speed ladders, ball bags and other key items. The funds stemmed from MLS WORKS' ongoing partnership with Univision and Allstate, which contributes $500 to participating clubs for every save made during an MLS match aired on Univision and partner networks.

“We're excited to partner with After School Matters and to enhance the soccer experience of hundreds of teens across Chicagoland," said Lee Hannant, Manager of Soccer In The Community. "Not only through the equipment donation from the Chicago Fire Foundation, but also Soccer In The Community’s continued involvement at a grassroots level, through programs such as our Community Ambassador."
Soccer In The Community will continue to provide free soccer clinics across a number of ASM’s Chicagoland sites over the coming year, as well as inviting teens to participate in unique activations around the 2017 MLS All-Star Game at Soldier Field (Aug. 2), when the stars of MLS will face Real Madrid.
